Fees and Funding Options
The exact costs will depend on the individual circumstances of any matter.
It is important that we are able to provide you with as much guidance and certainty as to the likely costs involved in your matter.
So that we can give you certainty about pricing we ask you to provide us with as much information as possible at the beginning of the matter.
Hourly Rates
The fee earners within Woolf Law have varying levels of experience and knowledge which can be applied to best match the needs of your matter. Each fee earner will charge at a different hourly rate and the range of these rates start from £150 plus VAT (£180 inc) up to £450 plus VAT (£480) depending on the level of experience.
The fee earner working on your case will charge at their hourly rate and record their time for undertaking the work involved.
We base our charges on the time spent.
For maximum transparency, we divide an hour into ten blocks of six minutes to record the time spent on your case. This breakdown is what you will see in our time records and on all the invoices we send you where the matter is quoted based on a time estimate rather than a fixed fee.
In some circumstances we are able to offer a fixed fee for the work which we carry out for you.

DISBURSEMENTS
-
Disbursements are charges payable in addition to our fees, normally to a third party. They can include fees payable to the Court, Barristers and other experts such as medical experts who may be required to provide evidence in your case.
-
The amount charged for the disbursements depends upon a number of variables as well as the expert attendance at Court if applicable. Barristers fees are from £500.00 plus VAT depending on the type and complexity of the hearing.
-
Experts costs can be from £1,200.00 plus VAT depending on the type and complexity of the case.
-
All additional costs / disbursements where applicable will be discussed with you in advance of instruction.
PAYMENT OF FEES
-
At each stage of the proceedings, we will provide you with a quote of our fees to cover that stage of the work. All fees must be paid in advance of any work undertaken and any court hearing.
-
Until an invoice is settled, no work will be commenced on that stage of the case.
-
We appreciate that the cost of legal fees can be high and therefore, subject to agreement, we may be able to agree a payment structure for interim payments to be taken.
VAT
-
Our fees and some disbursements are subject to VAT at 20% or at whatever is the prevailing rate at the time of the issuing of the bill.
